DATE OF ESTABLISHMENT: 7th July, 1988

MISSION STATEMENT: To provide enabling environment where appropriate quality knowledge and skills in Science, Technical and Vocational Education will be acquired for scholastic and meaningful living.

 FUNCTION OF THE BOARD:

a. To establish, manage and control Science, Technical and Vocational Schools in the State.

b. To ensure that courses in Science, Technical Schools conform to the National Policy on Education and satisfy the requirements of   admission into Tertiary Institutions and for self-sustenance.

c. To ensure that Vocational Schools conform to the State Policy on Vocational Education and laid down  requirements and standards.

d. Determine and approve schemes of Service for all categories of staff and their emoluments subjects to the approval by the Governor.

e. To acquire any equipment, material, furniture and other properties required for the purpose of the Board.

f. To appoint, promote, dismiss and exercise disciplinary control over its staff.

g. To prepare and submit to the Governor on annual report on the administration and activities of the Board.                                         

h. To maintain any premises forming parts of the Board.

i. To carry on all such activities and do all such things as are necessary, for the good administration and  control of the Board.

PROPOSED PROJECT:        

1. Up grading of facilities in Technical Colleges

2. Rehabilitation of Government Vocational Training Centre, Minna

3. Renovation of the existing office structures of the headquarters of Niger State Science and Technical Schools Board, Minna

4. Rehabilitation of Idris Legbo Science College, Kutigi
