VISION: To be prime catalyst for transforming Niger state into information Technology driven economy by the year 2020
MISSION: To ensure that the citizens of Niger state are sufficiently empowered with information technologies so as to guarantee the development of critical mass of information technology proficient citizens within the state and beyond.
UNITS IN ICT
Maintenance: The maintenance unit coordinates the activity of the following units: hardware, software and networking. The unit arrange annual routine inspection and safety testing of equipment. They check new computer equipment on arrival and do the installation as appropriate. They assist the ICT director in the deployment of computer hardware and VSat installation in all MDAs. They keep inventory of all hardware, software, accessories and network equipments and also make sure that the equipment are working according to manufacture’s guideline.
Operations: The Operations unit co ordinates the activities of the following units:
ICT park, ICT labs, NSCOS and eGovernment. They provide, analyze and recommend strategies on eGovernment, ICT parks, ICT labs and Computer ownership scheme in the state. They identify, plan , and cost all future development and upgrade of eGovernment infrastructure. They assist in preparing budget for the department. They also co ordinate Management Information System and User Accounts.
Knowledge Management: The knowledge management crew co ordinates the following units: Capacity building, research and software development. They keep track of innovations and improvement on the world of ICT and also advise the Director on its application in the state. They are responsible for in-house training as appropriate to ICT staff. They are also responsible for the smooth operations of the eCompliance training and initiation of staff development programme{seminars, workshops, conferences}. They also assist in the preparation of annual budget. They are also responsibly for the management of the state web portal.
Co operates Service: The unit advices the ICT Director on the implementation of ICT policies as it affects business opportunities and collaboration with private sector. They identify areas of public private partnership (ppp) in ICT project and source for willing partners. They maintain booking system for ICT goods and services. They co ordinate the finance and commercial services of the department and also maintain files and their movement in the department. They also serve as servicom secretariat of the department. They also assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
